Our Story

Established in 2021, Ginger Root Plant Co. is a mobile plant boutique that specializes in backyard grocery gardens, indoor houseplants, and native plants that create sustainable ecosystems.

It didn’t start there, though. Growing up on our family farm in Southern Indiana, I always loved the days spent hiding in the corn fields, causing mischief on the gator, and eating loads of candy with my Uncle Jeff while riding in the combine. Ford Farms dates all the way back to 1804! It is four generations strong and still going!

Ginger Root grows all of our native, herb and vegetable plants from seeds utilizing organic and sustainable growing practices. We pride ourselves on providing unique varieties not available at your local nursery and garden center. We start with high quality, heirloom seed varieties. All indoor houseplants are sourced from family owned greenhouses locally in Central Indiana.

When you support us, you are not just helping one small business but many others! We prioritize purchasing all of our growing supplies, soil, and fertilizers from other Indiana local farmers and friends! Our growing pots come from Brehob, seeds from Urban Farmer, worm castings from Heartland Worm Farm, and soil from Get Dirt Rich!
